Regularly performing inventory receiving and counting keeps your stock balance accurate and gives you better control over wastage and the overall value of your inventory.
How items are structured
Each item in Munu Inventory is built on three levels:
| Level | Description |
|---|---|
| Base unit | The minimum quantity at which the product can be measured or sold. For example, spirits in centilitres (cl) and wine by the bottle. Set at creation and cannot be changed. |
| Packaging unit | A larger grouping of the base unit to simplify counting — for example, a full bottle of spirits rather than counting individual centilitres. |
| Purchasing unit | The quantity in which the item is typically ordered from a supplier — for example, a case of bottles. |
⚠️ Important: The base unit cannot be changed after an item is created. Choose it carefully — it is the foundation for all inventory calculations for that item.
